It's not even Christmas yet, but here we have Pre-Fall for 2012. What I do like about these collections are all the bold colors. I'm guessing bold and bright colors will be a very big statement for Fall 2012, and I am not complaining. Again prints having a big impact on what we can expect also, and intricate details among them. I also noticed that trousers are making a big come back into what women wear, with rolled cuffs and high waists. It's got a very Audrey Hepburn feel to it. I'll just say I can't wait until Fall now.

Life, Lipstick, and Laughter

Photos: Maree Vie, and Suzanne Simmalavong
While I was not able to attend yesterday, STYL helped coordinate and style this event backstage at The Woman's Club of Mpls. called Life, Lipstick, and Laughter. This fantastic event featured The Art of Beauty TV, and was filled with entertainment, fashion, beauty, life stories, and of course laughter! It looks and sounds like the event went really well. Mare, Suzanne, Alyssa, and Alex did an amazing job with what they do best, and they all looked absolutely gorgeous (and handsome for Alex ;P). But seriously, when don't they?!

J'aime Versailles

(Image credit: Myself, Pinterest and Flickr)
Back in '09, I had the pleasure of going to England and France for two weeks. While I liked London quite a bit more, visiting Versailles (which is outside of Paris) was a very pleasant experience. Having seen 'Marie Antoinette' several times, I often dreamed of someday visiting the palace where she and King Louie lived. So actually getting the chance to spend almost a full day there, was more than I could have asked for. Upon walking up to this grand monument, you're greeted with gold plated fences and statutes that are bigger then a dozen people stacked on eachother. There are tons and tons of different rooms, spirial staircases, paintings, gold decorated bedrooms, and anything else you could think of. Then you go outside of the palace, and you're greeted again with huge fountains that flow water to a synchronized system. If you keep walking you can get lost in different gardens that house trees and other statues. The one thing I wish I could have gone into was Marie's little home away from home. Which in itself is another palace. The luxury these people had was extravagant, but I'm pretty sure I would not have wanted to get my head chopped off for all of these things...But all in all, this place was so gorgeous. It was like being in another world, and I hope I someday can go back to it.

Love 4Japan Event

I would have updated about this sooner but life is busy, busy! I'm so absolutely excited for this event on Sunday. As you can see it's called A Walk to Remember: Love 4Japan. The creator, MiMi Nguyen, has put together an absolutely fantastic fashion show. STYL is actually going to be helping out with backstage, and prepping models, so that will be a lot of fun. I will actually be updating Twitter and Facebook during the day, so look out for all my posts. This is going to be a big day for STYL and for everyone else involved, so I hope it goes well and that everyone will enjoy it!

Holiday 2011: Ruche Style

I've FINALLY gotten back onto a MAC computer at school and unleashed my Photoshop and Illustrator creative juices. Sure have missed it, because it's so much fun to play around with. This is also for an entry at the ShopRuche Blog, so I'm hoping I can get into that. This is basically for the upcoming Holiday, and how I would style someone with Ruche outfits. They have great vintage pieces, and they're not badly priced. I definitely recommend them. Then this turned into Suzanne, Mare, myself, and Alyssa all saying we could pull off one of these outfits. The far left is for Alyssa, the gray/glitter dress is for Suzanne, the blue dress if for me, and the red dress is (of course) for Mare! Maybe you'll see us strutting in these outfits this holiday season. :D

The Art of Color

I found this really great site called Pantonism and it groups together pictures of all the different colors. It can be of random photography, fashion, or anything in between. I'm a big fan of sites like this because you can get all kinds of inspiration from these pictures that are up on there. Color is a big aspect of fashion, and I think you can either be really bold with your color choices or be casual about it. It also plays a big role in how someone's mood may be, whether it's happy, sad, annoyed, etc. I know that when I put together whatever I'm going to wear for the day, color is a big factor that I put into it. So if you enjoy color, like I do, you should definitely check this site out.

Behind the Scenes: Nina Photoshoot

So I figured I would make a post about a photoshoot STYL did last Sunday. I was able to attend, it was my first one, and I have to say it was such an amazing experience. Maree and Alex were, of course, so nice to meet for the first time. The client was Nina Bouphasavanh, and the photographer was Kevin Kamin. The make-up was done by Kystyana. Let's just say these people were extremely professional, and super nice. There were three different themes to the photoshoot, and each one was in itself individual. The first look was this gorgeous blue dress, we paired it with brown boots, a Marc Jacobs scarf, a diamond ring, and a brown and white belt. The second look was another blue dress, but lighter and with glitter. Paired with black pumps and a gorgeous necklace. Third look was much edgier, a sleek one-shouldered dress. The theme  with this outfit was a woman who almost a warrior. Alex got to jump in, and pretend like he was styling her. (So perfect!) Holding a microphone stand and a camera in hand, she was ready to face anyone. Then the final look, was almost like film noir. In all black, with a touch of fur on the jacket and a floppy hat, Nina was ready to be super sexy wherever she went. The outfits were provided by Off Saks Fifth Avenue, with jewelry and accessories by Betsey Bennis and Suzanne Simmalavong (Director for STYL).

LFW Spring 2012

I am a huge admirer of British fashion. There's just something about the way designers over there know how to break the mold of normal style. Bold prints that tend to be the centerpiece for the entire collection, neutral colors that blend well with different skin tones, and some interesting hair and make-up choices. But that's what designers have to bring when they're showing a collection they put their heart and soul into. I think British designers really know how to show their creativity, and are not afraid to put something out there that people may criticize. I can respect that.

NYFW Spring 2012: Day 6-9

NYFW, Spring edition, is done! I can't believe it. We saw so many great collections throughout this week, and I am looking forward to next year so we can see all of this. Florals, sequins, cheetah prints, and great accessories. Some of my favorite collections included; Marchesa, Reem Acra, Alice + Olivia, Betsey Johnson, and Jenny Packham. It was a lot of fun to review all of this, and I can't wait for London Fashion Week tomorrow.
