Yesterday to Today: Fashion Icons
So Lauren Bacall is a big style icon of mine from the 40s and 50s. She had such a classic style that you can often find in today's fashion. She'd wear this outfit then, women would wear it now. The blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, is known everywhere for the classic pin up girl look. The 'fly-up white dress' is such an iconic image, you could ask anyone and they would know who it is. Marilyn had great style in her day, especially in casual outfits like this one. She was a real woman. Audrey Hepburn was such a style icon during the 50s, that she left a legacy that people look to today. She was on the cover of Vogue, started the tradition of the LBD, and she even has a pair of pants dedicated to her at Gap. Truly gorgeous, and a fantastic actress, Audrey is someone I look to for ideas. Most known for playing Dorothy in 'The Wizard of Oz', Judy Garland was a great icon during the 40s and 50s. Whether she was wearing those classic ruby slippers, or just a garment like this one, she always had something stylish on. Famously known as the "Love Goddess", Rita Hayworth brought Spanish flair to the 40s. She was a pin-up girl for several years, but her own personal style was that of a classic and effortless woman. Another 40s actress, Ava Gardner was known as one of the most beautiful women of her day. She had a sexy and classic style, wearing several gorgeous black dresses and diamonds galore. These women are just a few of the classic actresses that I love looking to for inspiration and great wardrobes.
